This sweet soul was born to cuddle. From day one, he's been the one who seeks out warmth and comfort, curling up against his mom or siblings whenever possible. He has an uncanny ability to sense when someone needs a little extra love, and he's always ready to offer it—pressing his soft little head against your hand, gazing up with those trusting eyes, and melting into your arms like he was made to be held. He follows you from room to room, not out of neediness, but out of genuine devotion, wanting simply to be near his favorite person. At night, he'll nestle into your neck and let out the most peaceful little snores. If you're looking for a faithful companion who will be your shadow and your heart, this loving boy is the one

This little ball of sunshine is the life of the party! From the moment she opens her eyes in the morning until she finally crashes for a nap, she's in constant motion—chasing imaginary butterflies, pouncing on unsuspecting toys, and inviting every sibling to wrestle. Her favorite game is tug-of-war with a rope toy, and she'll happily entertain himself for hours with a crinkly ball. When you come near, she'll race over with her whole rear end wagging, tail held high like a little flag of joy. She's the first to investigate new sounds, the first to greet visitors, and the first to fall asleep in your lap after wearing himself out. Life with this little guy is never boring—he'll keep you laughing every single day.

This handsome little gentleman is the quiet observer of the litter—always watching, always thinking, always ready with a soulful gaze that will melt your heart. While his siblings bounce off the walls, he prefers to sit back and take in the world around him, studying every sound and movement with calm curiosity. When you pick him up, he'll nuzzle right into the crook of your arm and let out the tiniest contented sigh, as if to say "this is exactly where I belong." He's not the loudest or the pushiest, but he's the one who will stare at you with those big brown eyes and remind you that sometimes the quietest souls have the deepest love to give.

Feeding Your Shih Tzu

What you feed your Shih Tzu in the first year shapes their health for life. Here's exactly what we feed our puppies — and what we recommend you continue at home.

Shih Tzu eating
6 – 8 Weeks

First Foods

Puppies begin eating softened dry kibble mixed with warm water or puppy milk replacer. We use a high-quality small-breed puppy formula. At this age they still nurse occasionally, so meals are small and frequent — 4 times a day.

💡

Never skip the transition period. Switching food too fast causes stomach upset.

8 – 16 Weeks

Building the Appetite

Fully weaned and eating solid kibble 3× per day. Portion size is roughly ¼ cup per meal for the average Shih Tzu puppy. Fresh water must always be available. Avoid human food and table scraps at this stage.

💡

Shih Tzus are prone to hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) as puppies — never skip meals.

4 – 12 Months

Active Growth

Move to 2 meals per day as the puppy matures. Continue a small-breed puppy formula until 12 months. Monitor weight — an adult Shih Tzu should stay between 9–16 lbs. Dental chews are excellent at this stage for their teeth.

💡

Shih Tzus can be picky eaters. Stick to one brand and resist the urge to add variety every week.

12 Months+

Adult Maintenance

Transition to a small-breed adult formula. 2 meals per day, approximately ½ cup per meal depending on weight and activity level. Omega-3 supplements (fish oil) keep their double coat lustrous and their skin healthy.

💡

Shih Tzus are brachycephalic — use flat, wide food bowls to make eating comfortable.

Development

From Birth to Grown

Shih Tzus develop fast. Here's what's happening inside our home from the moment a litter is born to the day they're ready to meet you.

Week 1–2

Neonatal

Eyes and ears closed. Completely dependent on mom. We handle them gently for 5 minutes a day to begin socialization.

Week 3–4

Eyes Open

Eyes and ears open. Wobbly first steps. They start recognizing voices — this is when they first hear Henry every morning.

Week 5–6

Ready to Play

Full of energy. Puppies begin eating softened food. Personality traits start showing — you'll see who's bold and who's cuddly.

Week 7–8

Going-Home Ready

Vaccinations done. Vet-checked. Legally and developmentally ready for their forever family.

Month 3–6

Rapid Growth

The most growth happens here. Expect your puppy to reach about 75% of their adult weight by 6 months.

Month 12

Adult Shih Tzu

Fully grown. Adult Shih Tzus weigh 9–16 lbs and stand 8–11 inches tall. The double coat is now in full bloom.

Where They Grow Up

Life in Our Compound

When you buy a puppy, you're buying their entire upbringing — not just what they look like on paper. Here's what our puppies experience every single day.

☀️

Open-Air Play Every Day

Our compound has a safe, grassed yard where puppies run, tumble, and explore in fresh air daily. This is not a cage operation. Every puppy gets real outdoor time from week three onward.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Family Environment

Puppies grow up around adults, children, and the sounds of a real household — TV, music, cooking, laughter. This makes them calm and adaptable in any home, not just ours.

🐕

Socialized with Other Dogs

Our puppies grow up seeing and interacting with adult Shih Tzus. They learn social cues, bite inhibition, and how to communicate with other dogs before they leave us.

🧸

Handled from Day One

Every puppy is gently touched, held, and talked to from birth. By the time they leave, being picked up, having their paws held, and getting a bath are all normal — not stressful.

🌙

Routine from Week Two

We establish sleep and feeding routines early. Your puppy already knows what a schedule feels like before they arrive at your home — making the transition smoother.

🏥

Vet Partnership

We work with a licensed Dallas-area vet who sees every litter. Vaccinations, deworming, and health checks are done on schedule — never skipped, never delayed.
